The purpose of the exhibition is to reconstruct paleoenvironments within the Mizunami area in the late Cenozoic, based on fossils and geology. The Miocene Mizunami Group yields abundant fossils such as mollusks, crabs, fishes, mammals, plants and so on. These fossils indicate that the area was laid down under marine conditions in the early-middle Miocene.
